Wishes come true for charites with the INsiders

Over the years I’ve supported many charities and third sector organisations to sustainably grow with no budget and a tiny amazing crew of people that care, helping them work smarter and save time and sanity while they make a genuine difference.

What people don’t appreciate is that most charities are usually 6 to 18 months away from closing their budgets are that tight.

Add the cost of living crisis – if you’ve read our Trend Report you will know how that is impacting on businesses and charities and what you can do about it. Learn more here.

And on top the unreasonable utility rises and the crippling NI costs and you can see why charities need us more than ever.

But if you haven’t got a spare sack of cash sitting around with nothing to do (All spare sacks of cash send to Mandie Holgate, c/o Mersea Island!) then there’s plenty you can do for charities.

Charities that make the difference to so many. Often with staff working way past their paid hours to get it all done.

Here Raj from Children’s’ Hearts UK (formally known as Children’s Heart Federation – learn more here) tells us their wish list.

When you join us as an INsider I want you to share with myself and our Insiders over on the confidential community;

  • How we can help?
  • What you are looking to achieve?
  • Who do you need?
  • What issues do you face?
  • What training does your business, you and your team require?
  • Who is perfect for you to work with?

A wish list is a great way for us to get to know a charity and understand how we can help. It may not be a sack of cash but there’s plenty you can do as a business owner, reader and or INsider, read on to know more….

We need help to make a real splash – can you and INsiders help?

Can you help us promote our 2025 dates?

21st June Legoland – We’re taking 250 children with heart conditions out of hospital and into Legoland for an unforgettable day of adventures. We need lovely local volunteers who might help us with hands on deck – as we know , there’s safety in numbers!

4th July – The Only Way is Rowing Ball – Book your tickets here – INsiders are booked for this and there are some exceptional corporations in the room to network with – you may even make it in the press in your finery.

30th August – Children’s Hearts Carnival – We want local businesses to join us to celebrate children’s hearts, carnival style. £100 Corporate Sponsorship will buy a stall and promotion for the event which will take place in Rayne, Braintree.

4th October – Theatre Activity Day – Fundraising & Volunteers – Our young people steering group requested a trip to the theatre to boost their spirits. This will cost us £11,450 to make possible.  We would be grateful for any help in fundraising to make their wish come true, and volunteers to support us on the way.

22th November  – We’re hoping to bring alive n the spirit of the festive season we for children and families we support for a festive day trip to the Winter Wonderland at Stockeld Park Activity Day. We’d love to make the most of the season of giving and celebrating with the INsiders.

More information on all events and how you can get involved here.

Tag CHU and BWN INsiders on our social media via www.thebusinesswomansnetwork.co.uk (See base of page) and tag us in posts for all events. Businesses doing this not only get that warm fuzzy feeling, you could end up with more followers and engagement for you too.

We need a network of 20 agreed charity partner members, with bi-annual meetings and a monthly newsletter providing opportunity for collaboration and knowledge sharing – that’s why we need to use the CRM system better. We are a small team. We have 16 agreed partners with more wanting to come on board. Can INsiders help us make them most of this network and collaboration for all stakeholders?

Do INsiders have ideas to help us with annual fundraising plans clearly addressing diverse income streams?

We would love to welcome a new corporate sponsor and show them how working with CHU could help them and the children and their families at this critical time.

Help us do more for the amazing The only way is rowing team?

We need a full cohort of 12 trustees with relevant skills and experiences that will help steer the future of the charity, can you help us promote that and the benefits of being involved?

We need to improve the skillset of our board; legal, finance and marketing

We need to find a celebrity patron.

We are a small team who help families in their darkest hour to navigate the scary magnitude of open heart surgery for children. We don’t expect anything for free, but we could really do with some support. We have so many ways we can help, if we can just get a little bit of expertise, connections and support and we are so grateful to everyone at the INsiders for supporting Julie Dallard and myself. Thank you.
