Koala walks To make a difference.

James Kearney, Business Development Manger from Koala Digital wanted to do something in memory of his own experience of neonatal loss.

“It’s not something that is easy to talk about however the opportunity came up to do something positive and I wanted to help raise awareness of Sands amazing work.”

James goes on to say “In June 2021, my world was flipped upside down when my ex-partner went into labour at home after being sent home from the hospital with antibiotics despite evidently being in labour. A few hours later, our darling daughter Savannah was born at home, however, the paramedics declared her stillborn. This wasn’t the case, after no attempts to resuscitate and being taken to maternity triage instead of the emergency room, they found that Savannah had a heartbeat, but by that point, the lack of intervention beforehand meant that she did not survive. So I have chosen to raise some money for Sands, to help other parents who have gone through similar pain.”

It is only recently that the NHS were issuing baby loss certificates as up until now stillborn babies pre 24 weeks were not able to be registered, something that many felt made it so much harder to grief and recover from. Read more here. When the news was launched the site crashed as many wanted to be able to cherish their angel babies.

James added “I appreciate that money is tight right now for many, however if you can support me that would be great. I’m doing My Marathon My Way for Sands by taking on 26.2 miles a week in April. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.”

And INsiders sharing this post and helping me spread the word will be appreciated too!
